These form studies are experiments in proportion and beauty and helped develop a feeling for spacial and material relationships. They shaped a perspective on the balance between emptiness and mass, light and shadow, and structure and surface. Interestingly, most studies display an orthogonal composition and therefore point out an inherent interest towards structure and order.
Other studies encompass the two-dimensional plane: drawings on a 2D surface ranging from a technical to a much more experimental nature. They involve an exploration of objectively depicting information, as well as pushing boundaries of what a drawing can tell. The experimental studies have shown that beauty can never be entirely objective. This inherently subjective concept is more complex than the rules we make it go by. However, these rules are sometimes necessary in order to pursue a sense of beauty in the practical field of architecture.
